WellConnect
is a student-service website hosted by the University of South
Carolina’s Health and Wellness Programs.
It is designed to increase access to, and use of, health
information by providing factual, in-depth, straightforward, and
nonjudgmental information about physical, sexual, emotional, and
spiritual health. Responses
to all inquiries are posted anonymously on the website, so
students are encouraged to submit any type of question concerning
general health, nutrition, fitness, relationships, emotional
wellness, predatorial drugs, sexuality, and sexual health, as well
as information pertaining to interpersonal violence such as
relationship violence and sexual assault.
Questions
are answered by professionals from the University of South
Carolina’s Health and Wellness Programs and Student Health
Services. This
includes, but is not exclusive to, public health professionals,
social workers, counselors, and medical physicians.
The advice distributed in WellConnect responses is not
meant to replace proper diagnosis through physical examination by
a medical professional.
WellConnect
does not respond to medical, domestic violence, or sexual
assault-related emergencies – if you or someone else is hurt or
in physical danger, call 911 immediately.
If
you are in a domestic violence situation and are using a home or
shared computer, be aware that your use might be monitored by an
abuser; if you feel that might be a possibility, call the USC
Office for Sexual Health and Violence Prevention at (803)777-7619,
or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE.
Responses
to questions are updated on Fridays.
Questions can be submitted any time – you can WellConnect
anytime during the week, 24 hours a day!
